Erin Carroll

Where are you from?
Born and raised in Chicago.

What is your role at Bottleneck?
Director of Events and Business Development.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I love seeing the joy on guests faces at events that we worked so hard to pull off. Many people don’t know everything that goes into making events happen (small or large), so when everything just comes together and everyone is happy and enjoying themselves, it is a great feeling!

What do you do when you are not at work?
There is not much that makes me happier than seeing live music. Whether it is just one person singing and playing the guitar at a bar, a band at a music venue or a 3 day outdoor concert, it always brings me to my happy place so I go as much as possible. I spend a lot of time hanging out with friends discovering new restaurants, watching our Chicago sports teams dominate, and of course drinking wine while solving all the world’s problems.

How did you discover Bottleneck Management?
I grew up with Jason Akemann’s wife, Jenny who is one of my best friends. I had the privilege of not only frequenting the Bottleneck establishments for years and getting to know them, but I also got to hear about all the new developments on the horizon. I loved the vision and passion they had and when I found out they were looking for someone to do event sales and management, I threw my hat in the ring, and the rest, as they say, is history.

What do you enjoy about working with the team/company?
This is such a passionate group of people. We spend a significant part of our lives at work, so it’s great to be around people who love what they do and are so good at it.

Current favorite drink?
Much like Live music, a great glass of Pinot Noir can help take me to my happy place. Allagash White is my go-to summer beer.

What is something that people probably don’t know about you?
I was a competitive Irish dancer as a kid and I was the Captain of my High School Soccer Team my senior year (I have 2 ankle surgeries under my belt to prove it!)

Favorite TV/Movie Quote?
I am not one of those people that typically remembers movie lines and quotes them, so these were the two that came to my mind first since they come from two of my favorite movies.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” (Ferris Bueller)

It’s all happening” (Penny Lane- Almost Famous)

Biggest party foul?
I have to agree with Bart with the “close talkers,” and when people talk with their mouth full. Double whammy if both are happening at the same time. For the love of God, respect personal space, and I can WAIT for you to finishing chewing your food before you tell me something… it’s just never that urgent.

Favorites food(s)?
I can eat Mexican food seven days a week and never get sick of it.

Share a moment of personal triumph:
Graduating college without having student loans due to a scholarship was pretty cool.
